Greetings Tigers,

I am very excited to inform you that the remaining part of phase one passed all the inspections today. Even though, there will be a delay with the main gate, we will be able to use the classrooms and the cafeteria.

We have finished motion and design unit with two different projects that we have done in class with my students. In class, I broke the kids down in groups in order to make bottle rockets and safety cars.

Dear TMSA Parents-

There will be no clubs and tutoring the week of Thanksgiving, November 25th and 26th. After school care will be provided.  Busses will depart at 3:08pm.

Music at TMSA

     Students entered into a professional style rehearsal atmosphere this week by beginning to focus on the details of their choral performance pieces.

EOG Results

Dear Parents,

On November 7, 2013, the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction released the State’s 2012–2013 test results. These results have taken a little longer than expected since North Carolina adopted a new curriculum in 2012; the assessments and scoring had to be changed to reflect that. The State Board of Education adopted new standards because it wants all students to be on track for success in college and career when they graduate from high school.

Jelly Beans Private Skating

TMSA PTO is doing fundraiser at Jelly Beans Skate Center in Cary.

PTO has a Private Skate session planned for TMSA Students on Nov 16 from 5:15 pm - 7:00 pm. This will be a time for TMSA students to come out for an evening of fun with their school mates. Last year children had a great time.

3rd Grade Community Scavenger Hunt

The third grade has been learning about communities in social studies. They recently completed a scavenger hunt that sent them out into their communities to locate different items such as local bakeries, parks, restaurants, historic landmarks and much more! Book Buddies!

Students in grades K and 5 teamed up for Book Buddies last week!

Students in Ms. Kenney's Kindergarten and Ms. Lanham's Grade 5 Language Arts class teamed up for our first Book Buddy Day last week.  Each fifth grader was paired up with a Kindergartner for about 30 minutes of special reading time.

Successful Bake Sale

Children enjoyed four days of bake sale. 

TMSA students enjoyed the bake sale from Nov4-Nov7th. Every classroom got to visit the bake sale during lunch time. Thank you to all the parents for sending the goodies in.

Noetic Learning Math Competition (NLMC)

 

All 2nd - 6th grade math classes at TMSA took the NLMC this week.  The NLMC, Noetic Learning Math Contest, is a national math contest.  TMSA registered as a school for the contest, and all classes took the test in their math class this week.  The test had 20 questions and the kids were all given 45 minutes to complete it.  In my class, we practiced for the NLMC by solving problems from previous years' tests and talking about "test taking strategies" last week and early this week.

On 22th Nov, from 7:30-8:30 am, we invite TMSA dads(and granddads) to school for a special breakfast event, Donuts with dads.

Chess T-shirts Ordering

Dear All,

I am going to order t-shirts for chess club students. Also, if you interested in getting a t-shirt, please see the design in the attachment. II pit design for front and back. Students can wear it on Fridays. It is a polo t-shirt and the cost of it is $20.

UI Professor Studies Math of Disaster

NJHS Raises Support for Typhoon Victims

The TMSA Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society needs your help to raise funds to aid in the relief of Filipino victims of Typhoon Haiyan. We will be sponsoring a Dress Down Day for students who make a small donation. On Tuesday, November 19th, students may dress down if they make a $2 donation at the door as they enter for the morning. They will receive a sticker that indicates they contributed for the privilege of dressing down. And of course, all donations are welcome!
