We are Already Half Way There

Dear TMSA Family,

On January 16th, the second semester of the 2014-2015 school year began at TMSA. Our dedicated and hardworking faculty is focused on meaningful student engagement. Our volunteer parents are committing their precious time and resources to our school. The parent-teacher-student triad relationship is the key to our success.

Here at TMSA we are very fortunate to have such a great parent community. We have parents volunteering during and after school, supporting our teachers, and donating much needed supplies. I cannot express my gratitude enough for everything our parents do every day. I would like to ask that you continue to advocate for our school in the social media. I know that many of you have already been doing this, as well as speaking to your family and friends about our school, as we have over already 800 application for next year’s spots. However, in today’s world, the power of the Internet, social media, blogs, and other online reviews provide a great method of transferring information. Many parents go online and read reviews and check school ratings in order to make decisions concerning their child’s education. Unfortunately, our school has not been fairly represented in the social media, particularly on www.greatschools.com. I feel this is mainly because of parents who get upset and then write a negative review rather than come and speak with me first. In contrast, the majority of the parents who are happy with our school do not take the time to write about their personal experiences. As a result, people read only the parent complaints and get a skewed opinion of our school. I believe it is in our hands to give others a true depiction of our school. If you are pleased with your child’s teachers and your child’s education here at TMSA, please take the time to share a positive review on greatschools.com.  Let others know how much you enjoy your child coming to this school.  I ask that you please let me know if you have any concerns. Help us to make TMSA a better place for all.

Language Arts: Advertisements

In Language Arts class last week, fifth-grade Stanford showed off their talent and wit while presenting their advertisements. After learning about advertising techniques, students got a chance to create their own advertisements.  The students’ catchy slogans, slyly-incorporated “getting-on-the-bandwagon” techniques, enthusiastic presentations, and colorful advertisements showcased their creativity and talent.

Re-enrollment forms were sent home on Monday.  Please return them to the front office by March 2, 2015. This form will renew your child’s enrollment at Triangle Math and Science Academy for the 2015-16 school year.  Otherwise your child will lose their position at Triangle Math and Science Academy for the 2015-2016 school year.  There is an area at the bottom of the form for sibling enrollment.  This is for siblings that do not attend TMSA this year.  You will also need to fill out the online application for the sibling.

Lunch

When ordering lunch for your child please make sure you order it at least by 11:00 PM the day before. The caterer must have time to prepare enough meals for the next day. The caterer comes with a list of names who have ordered for that day. If a child's name is not on the list, the student will call their parent. The school will give the student a snack (granola bar, fruit cup and juice) if the parent cannot bring a lunch and the student will need to bring in $2.00 the next day for the snack
