Principal's Corner

Dear Parents:

This special issue of the TMSA Newsletter is to acknowledge the numerous awards and accomplishments recently made by our TMSA students.  It is important that we recognize the hard work of our students and staff, as well as the results of their efforts. I hope you will take time to read the articles and congratulate these people when you see them.

I’d also like to acknowledge and thank the students and parents who volunteered for “Rake-A-Trail Day” on Saturday, March 19, 2016.  We appreciate all who put aside their own busy schedules and came to TMSA to help create a trail on the grounds behind the back parking lot. A special thank you to our teachers Mr. and Mrs. Walker for sharing their vision for a trail, designing the trail, and managing the efforts of our volunteers. Lastly, thank you to the PTO for organizing this event.

The trail will be used, under teacher supervision only, to take students on walks to enjoy nature, to mount some bird houses, and to observe wildlife. One of our parents, Mr. Filenko, measured the trail's distance and the time it takes to walk it. We hope our students will benefit from and enjoy nature in our own backyard.

We also appreciate the fact that a number of our high school students and National Junior Honor Society participants chose this project as part of their volunteer work.  Everyone worked hard as a team and enjoyed contributing their time for the benefit of the entire TMSA community. I encourage future projects such as this, as well as many more of these acts of kindness at TMSA.  Thank you again for your help and support in this venture.

We look forward to seeing you all on April 9 at the Duke Center for Performing Arts for the Living Mosaic of Cultures & Languages in North Carolina program. Tickets to the event can be pre-ordered online at www.tmsafestival.org for $12.00 each. Tickets will be $15.00 the day of the event, if there are any tickets remaining  You will not want to miss the spectacular performances by our students!

Best regards,

Mithat Karabulut
