September was Childhood Cancer Awareness month, and 1st and 2nd grade classes sponsored the “Go Gold for Childhood Cancer Awareness” Fundraiser.
Childhood cancer is the #1 disease killer of children in the U.S., and a child is diagnosed with childhood cancer every 2 minutes worldwide. Students were able to purchase gold ribbons to help raise funds for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, and the money raised will go to fund childhood cancer research. Some parents and students also held a lemonade stand at the school during lunch and at welcome back picnic. In all, TMSA raised over $1,500! This will fund a whole week in a childhood cancer research lab!
