Ms. Ellen Walker visited Ms. Jackson's 2nd grade and Mr. Pamuk's 4th grade classes to discuss being a scientist.
Ms. Walker is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Texas at El Paso. She is studying how different brain regions communicate with each other. In her presentation she talked what scientists do and how the kids can be good scientists. The kids got to view sections of brain from rats and Prairie Vols, and learn about some of her research! Many of the students were inspired to look more into the different types of sciences and careers they can have in the field. We learned a lot in her presentation and look forward to continuing to learn more on the subject.
