Principal's Corner

Greetings TMSA Family!

Our After-School Activities (Clubs & Tutoring) have started last week. We started with more than 20 clubs and reached up to 30 clubs by the end of the week thanks to support of volunteers. We will continue looking for opportunities to increase he variety.

With our clubs and tutoring, we started having two dismissals: one dismissal after classes for students who do not stay for after-school activities starting at 3:30pm and the second dismissal for students who are participating in clubs and tutoring starting at 4:40pm. Between 3:30 and 4:40, students have three options: Clubs, tutoring, or afterschool care.  Please keep in mind that there is a charge for after school care. Between 3:30 and 4:40 it’s $5 and between 4:40 and 6:00 it’s $10.

Please keep in mind that both school busses are leaving after the clubs at 4:40 except for Wednesday. Please plan accordingly to pick your child at the bus stop.

I would like to remind you that for the dismissal, all parents are asked to pick up their children through the car line. All cars should line up on Hargett Street and left turns from Person Street into the car line are not accepted.

In our “Student Parent Handbook” we’ve asked for $30 materials and activities fee for 12/13 school year. This fee includes consumable workbook, agenda, and student I.D. cards. Please send the fee to your child’s homeroom teacher. The new deadline for the fee is Friday September 28th.

Also, don’t forget that the Picture Day will be on Monday, September 17th. Please have your child wear regular school uniform.

We will have our Curriculum Nights next week on Tuesday September 18th. It will be held from 6pm to 7:30pm. You will meet your child’s teachers and learn about our curriculum.

This Friday September 21st is an early release day. All students must be picked up at 11:30am. School busses will be leaving at 11:45 and parents of bus riders should plan accordingly.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

From the Desk of Mr. Yasar

Dear Parents,

Recently, we have finalized clubs/ tutoring assignments. By increasing the number of spots in each club and adding new clubs, we have enrolled more students in our after school activities given the priority to those who haven’t been placed in any clubs. Currently, there are some spots available in Jewelry Design on Tuesday and in our new club addition- Cupcake Decoration on Thursdays. If you are interested in switching a club, we will consider the request in the following week given space availability.

Mrs. Wood's Office

From the Office of Mrs. Wood

I first want to say how much I truly enjoy each of your children!  Whether they come to the office for a band-aid or to say “Hello Mrs. Wood” in the hallway.  They are all such good kids.

Just a few things I would like to suggest to keep the office running smoothly.

If your child is late to school, please walk him/her to the front office to check them in.  They will receive a pass to give to their teacher.  Remember, 8:20am school begins.  After that time, they are considered tardy.

Chess Club

As you all know, we started to run our chess club. In order to get some much needed materials for the club, I would like to  apply to parents' help. We need of some items in order to let our students practice and get them ready for the future tournaments. I am asking our parents whether they can provide following items for our chess club; chess-boards, score books, timer and so on. Thank you.
