Triangle Math and Science Academy recently announced that it had earned a School Performance Grade of A+ by the NC Department of Public Instruction. Only 2.8% of North Carolina schools (69 schools out of all public schools in North Carolina) received this distinction, and only 6% of the total schools in NC received As.
Because of its excellent test results, TMSA is proud to announce that it has earned the ranking of 9th place for “Proficiency” among all of North Carolina’s charter schools. This is an outstanding achievement as there are currently 158 Charter schools in the state although some of them are new this year. Schools in North Carolina are ranked according to both Growth and Proficiency based on student end-of-year and end-of-grade tests. TMSA’s Growth score was 72.2, while its Proficiency score was 88. Based on these scores, NC DPI determined that TMSA had met its goal for the school year 2014-2015.
Achievement scores come from end-of-grade reading and mathematics tests at the 3-8 grade levels; an end-of-grade science test at grades 5 and 8, and if applicable, end-of-course tests in Math I and Biology. All public schools, including charter schools, receive grades.
Congratulations to the whole TMSA family for this very exciting news! Thank you to all of our administrators, teachers, students and parents that helped to make this happen.
